About Tray Packing

Although a shrink-wrapped pack is fairly strong and stable, it is sometimes desirable to place the products in a cardboard tray before shrink wrapping, both for stability and ease of handling. A tray packer can fully automate this process.

Tray packing process

It is challenging to place products in a pre-formed tray, therefore the tray is formed around the products. The process is as follows:

  • An unfolded tray (a blank) is obtained,
  • products are pushed onto the tray,
  • the tray is folded into shape and its flaps are glued together,
  • (usually) the tray is sent into a shrink wrapping machine to complete the pack.
